Quasi-bound states and resonant skew scattering in two-dimensional materials with a Mexican-hat dispersion

چکیده
Mexican-hat dispersion of band electrons in two-dimensional materials attracts a lot interest, mainly due to the Van Hove singularity density states near edge. In this paper, we show that there is one more feature such dispersion, which also leads nontrivial effects. It consists fact sign effective mass momentum space central extremum opposite outside region. For reason, any localized potential repels quasiparticles outer region and thereby creates quasi-bound states. We study these case when formed hybridization inverted electron hole bands, created by point defect. The energy width resonance local corresponding state are found, it shown that, under certain conditions, can transform into bound continuum presence effects spin-dependent scattering electrons. Due state, skew strongly enhanced for with resonance, skewness angle varies over wide range depending on energy. addition, range, effect suppression appears direction angle.

We consider the problem of N identical fermions of mass m(↑) and one distinguishable particle of mass m(↓) interacting via short-range interactions in a confined quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) geometry. For N=2 and mass ratios m(↑)/m(↓)<13.6, we find non-Efimov trimers that smoothly evolve from 2D to 3D. In the limit of strong 2D confinement, we show that the energy of the N+1 system can be a...
متن کاملScattering and bound states in two-dimensional anisotropic potentials
We propose a framework for calculating scattering and bound-state properties in anisotropic two-dimensional potentials. Using our method, we derive systematic approximations of partial wave phase shifts and binding energies. Moreover, the method is suitable for efficient numerical computations. We calculate the s-wave phase shift and binding energy of polar molecules in two layers polarized by ...
متن کاملQuasi-patterns produced by a Mexican Hat coupling of quasi-cycles
A family of stochastic processes has quasi-cycle oscillations if its otherwise-damped oscillations are sustained by noise. Such a family forms the reaction part of a stochastic reaction-diffusion system when we insert a local Mexican Hat-type, difference of Gaussians, coupling on a one-dimensional and on a two-dimensional lattice. We find spatial patterns of oscillating quasicycles that resembl...
متن کاملScalable exfoliation and dispersion of two-dimensional materials - an update.
The preparation of dispersions of single- and few-sheet 2D materials in various solvents, as well as the characterization methods applied to such dispersions, is critically reviewed. Motivating factors for producing single- and few-sheet dispersions of 2D materials in liquids are briefly discussed. Many practical applications are expected for such materials that do not require high purity formu...
متن کاملSpin Hall Effect Induced by Resonant Skew Scattering in Graphene
The spin Hall effect is the appearance of a transverse spin current in a non-magnetic conductor by pure electrical control. The extrinsic spin Hall effect originates from the spin-dependent skew scattering of electrons by impurities in the presence of SOI and can be used for an efficient conversion of charge current into spin-polarized currents. Recently, it has been explored for replacing ferr...
